Easter and a Birthday on the Same Day?

I was a lucky gal this year and got to celebrate my birthday on Easter, March 31st.  How often does this happen you may ask?  I didn't know, so I googled it.  In fact I wanted to know if it had ever happened to me before.

I couldn't remember the first time I had shared my birthday with Easter.  Turns out the year was 1991. I turned 25 that year.  It happened again in 2002, 11 years later when I turned 36.  Then this year 2013, 11 years later, when I turned 47.  It will happen again when I turn 58 in 2024.  Then that should be the last time.  If I'm alive in 2086 then I have some great, secret, magic pill that let's me live to be 120 years old.

So I share Easter with my birthday 4 times in my lifetime.

The following is what I discovered on my little Google search.
Easter Sunday previously fell on March 31st in the following years:
1720
1771
1839
1850
1872
1907
1918
1929
1991
2002
2013
And will land again on my birthday in the following years:
2024
2086
2097
2143
2154
2165
2176

The pattern is mostly eleven years apart and then leap year gets in there and totally throws things off for a bit.

So why am I sharing this?  I'm not sure, other than numbers fascinate me.

Then after me and my hubby were chatting about this we decided to check out my son's birthday in November and how often he gets to share it with Thanksgiving.  His birthday will land on this holiday a lot more than mine.  His pattern is every 6 years, then 5, then 6, then 11.

Year Thanksgiving
Falls on Nov 28 / Years Apart

1957 /
1963 / 6
1968 / 5
1974 / 6
1985 / 11
1991 / 6
1996 / 5
2002 / 6
2013 / 11
2019 / 6
2024 / 5
2030 / 6
2041 / 11
2047 / 6
2052 / 5
2058 / 6
2069 / 11
2075 / 6
2080 / 5

2086 / 6
2097 / 11

So if he lives to a goodly age he will get to share his birthday with this holiday about 13-14 times in his lifetime.

I know this is a totally random post but it fascinated me for a few brief moments and it was fun to look it up and discover.  If you have a birthday close to a holiday that doesn't have an exact date, for example, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc then do some discovering to see how often you have to share your birthday with a holiday.   Let me know what you discover.  I'm interested to see if there are others of you.

Just as a side note, I would rather NOT share my birthday with a major holiday.  I'm truly sorry for those of you who have to every year no matter what, for example, Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July.   Oh well, party on anyway!

I have a niece that has shared a birthday with Easter a few years ago and that same day a new niece was born. In 1993 and 2004 I shared my birthday with Good Friday. In 2023, 2034 and 2045 I will share my birthday with Easter but I don't think it's happened so far in my lifetime.

Happy belated birthday!
I share the birthday as your son. Interesting to see that Thanksgiving falls on our big day this year!
My son was born on July 3rd. Very thankful to not be on the 4th but would have rather it been in June like it was supposed to be ;)

Happy Birthday, a little late! I find dates and such to be very interesting, too. My daughter's b-day is April 22 and she really wants to have Easter land on that day. It will... but not until 2057 :). She'll only be turning 53.

This post is 6 years old, but I still want to share! My birthday was on Easter this year for the first time in my life (the last time was 1957). It will be on Easter again in 2030, 2041, and 2052, and then not again until well past my life expectancy. This year was so fun - my kids are young and seeing their Easter delight was just the best.

I love your inspiring blog! Thank you for sharing your running journey!
